Bio: In many ways I am your average 25 year old guy. I love tennis, video games, sports, lifting weights, and being an uncle. I'm Roman Catholic. I'm an Eagle Scout. I also happen to have a genetic disease called cystic fibrosis and had a really successful double lung transplant on June 15, 2015. It has been an absolute blessing. My recovery has been nearly complication free and I am breathing easy! Before transplant I had 14% lung capacity, but now I am in the 95 to 102% range. This blog has multiple purposes. One, to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. I want anyone reading my blog to be closer to Him after reading it. Two, to inspire other people. I want to inspire my fellow cystic fibrosis warriors to stay positive, and also those with great health to give thanks. Three, it's a way of motivating myself and holding myself accountable. There is so little margin for error between my health, spiritual life, education, and social life that I need an outlet to aid me in being the best person I can possibly be. Four, I enjoy writing so it's also a fun use of free time.

  1. Finally! Your Old Man has become a follower–and now you’re going to be the Teacher! How proud I am of the Man you are becoming!

  2. Planning to visit you this afternoon. One of my best friends and neighbor, Julia Smead, has been following your blog (probably since its inception) and plans to join us. She has worked with Dr. Taylor Marshall in the past. See you soon!

  3. Hey Daniel! It’s Lane, that Boy Scout runner kid who’s always running in circles around the neighborhood! I just happened to stumble across your blog after my dad saw your parents and you walking around the neighborhood. This is really powerful stuff here Daniel, I really love reading it. While reading your great section on Saint Thérèse, I thought of an idea. My Grandparents actually live in San Antonio along with most of my family. In fact, my father and aunt were baptized at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower! I know you have a strong devotion to her and I was wondering if you ever got that chance to go on the pilgrimage you wanted to do. My grandparents (feel free to call them Memaw and Papa, even the new Saint Francis Youth Ministers can call them that!) would be MORE than happy to have you stay. They have a guest house we call the Cabana that is always open to others. Anyway if you haven’t gone and want to, feel free to hit me up! My email is lanetsch@hotmail.com and my phone is 817.442.0046. God Bless!

  4. Daniel,
so excited for your trip this weekend in San Antonio to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower. I left a message for Fr. John Suenram OCD today- hoping he can arrange for one of their Order to meet with all of you!

Can’t wait to hear how it goes- safe and fruitful travels to you all.
